Emerging Technology Part 1

Technology that has emerged from 2009 is the siri device. In the year 2009 Adam Cheyer tried to figure out a way to have "do engine" instead of a "search engine." The device was going to help people, like having your own personal assistant. Now in the year 2013 this invention is now being used in everyday life. The device is included in iphones, and ipads. Many people see this as a big help in technology, they don't have to wait for someone if they are busy and need help they have their own personal assistant who is there for then when ever and where ever they need them.

Emerging Technology Part 1

Light Field Photography:
The beginning of this month the Lytro camera company made the first major camera update design since cheap photography was created. The camera update is sold for $399 or more depending on the place its being sold. The company is trying to make more options that just refocusing the camera they are trying to make 3-d images at home. The camera records the angle at which rays of light arrive. This invention is called the light-field camera. Although they existed before this they have never been cheap enough for consumers to purchase. What made the cameras so expensive was that there are multiple lenses, but now the makers say that putting a low cost plastic film that has tiny microleses on the top of the digital sensor count make it detect the direction of the light. Something in the future that they are working on is being able to focus the camera after taking a picture. Future technology is going to be improved greatly. I’m not sure exactly how it could be considering how it is right now but someone will find a way. Maybe one thing is that they will make the cameras print right when you take the picture. One thing that surprised me is how they are still trying to better cameras. Also with the price coming down everyone will want to camera, as the price drops more people will be purchasing it. Cameras are already amazing and to think that they are getting better is beyond me.

Podcast

I prefer to write a report over doing a podcast. I don't really like podcasts because sometimes you run into technical difficulties and it prevents you from getting things done on time. Whereas a written report is just you and information. You just keep writing until you are done check it over then you’re done. In a podcast you may have to cut things out or rerecord because you messed up. I had a few difficulties with hooking up the microphone but when I used the teacher station it worked really well. The areas I had problems with were speaking clearly and loud enough. I have a naturally quiet voice so even when I think that i'm being loud it’s really not loud. I think to make this project more interesting would be to let the students pick their own famous person. There could be a certain age when they would choose from for example pick someone that was famous in the '50s to the '60s. But I think we would be more interested in learning if we had the opportunity of choosing someone we wanted to write about.
