Screen cast Reflection

1. How do you think you did? I think that I did very well on this project. I personally thought I was easy to understand there was no background noise and I spoke clearly. 2. Do you think your audience will be able to complete that tasks given based on your tutorial? I think that the audience will be able to perform this task very simply. I made sure to go step by step to make sure that the person could keep up and figure out how to get the survey on their blog. 3. What was easy and what did you have trouble with? I think that the majority of this project was easy. The thing that I had the most trouble with was trying to multitask. Trying to talk clearly and click on the correct buttons was a bit of a challenge. 4. How could you use this web 2.0 tool in the future? I think I could use this tool in the future to maybe help others learn how to use Microsoft tools. 5. Other thoughts . . . I thought this project was short and sweet and it’s a good tool to learn to use for future reference.

Emerging Technology Part 1

Technology that has emerged from 2009 is the siri device. In the year 2009 Adam Cheyer tried to figure out a way to have "do engine" instead of a "search engine." The device was going to help people, like having your own personal assistant. Now in the year 2013 this invention is now being used in everyday life. The device is included in iphones, and ipads. Many people see this as a big help in technology, they don't have to wait for someone if they are busy and need help they have their own personal assistant who is there for then when ever and where ever they need them.

Emerging Technology Part 1

Light Field Photography:
The beginning of this month the Lytro camera company made the first major camera update design since cheap photography was created. The camera update is sold for $399 or more depending on the place its being sold. The company is trying to make more options that just refocusing the camera they are trying to make 3-d images at home. The camera records the angle at which rays of light arrive. This invention is called the light-field camera. Although they existed before this they have never been cheap enough for consumers to purchase. What made the cameras so expensive was that there are multiple lenses, but now the makers say that putting a low cost plastic film that has tiny microleses on the top of the digital sensor count make it detect the direction of the light. Something in the future that they are working on is being able to focus the camera after taking a picture. Future technology is going to be improved greatly. I’m not sure exactly how it could be considering how it is right now but someone will find a way. Maybe one thing is that they will make the cameras print right when you take the picture. One thing that surprised me is how they are still trying to better cameras. Also with the price coming down everyone will want to camera, as the price drops more people will be purchasing it. Cameras are already amazing and to think that they are getting better is beyond me.

Podcast

I prefer to write a report over doing a podcast. I don't really like podcasts because sometimes you run into technical difficulties and it prevents you from getting things done on time. Whereas a written report is just you and information. You just keep writing until you are done check it over then you’re done. In a podcast you may have to cut things out or rerecord because you messed up. I had a few difficulties with hooking up the microphone but when I used the teacher station it worked really well. The areas I had problems with were speaking clearly and loud enough. I have a naturally quiet voice so even when I think that i'm being loud it’s really not loud. I think to make this project more interesting would be to let the students pick their own famous person. There could be a certain age when they would choose from for example pick someone that was famous in the '50s to the '60s. But I think we would be more interested in learning if we had the opportunity of choosing someone we wanted to write about.

Bessie Coleman

Bessie Coleman Script Bessie Coleman was born on January 26, 1892 in Atlanta Texas. Atlanta Texas was a very poor city, and it had a lot of discrimination within it. Her parents were Susan and George Coleman and she was the tenth of thirteen children. She started school at the age of six and had to walk four miles to school every day. Coleman was a gifted child, each night she would read a story book that she borrowed from the library to her family. At the age of eight she worked as a family bookkeeper. When she grew up she longed to be a pilot but it was very challenging for an African America women to become one. Once Coleman was old enough she moved to Chicago with her two brothers. While in Chicago she got a job as a manicurist in the White Sox Barbershop. She was honored as the best and fastest manicurist in the area. Coleman wanted to become a pilot so bad, she finally decided that she was going to go to France and learn how because discrimination was not a problem there. But before she could she had to learn how to speak French at a local language school. After learning the language as best as she could, she left for France in November of 1920. While in France it took Bessie Coleman seven months to learn how to fly and get her pilots license. She was given her license on June 15, 1921 by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. After receiving her license, she returned to the United States in September of 1921. When she arrived she was addressed by the press. Many people were interested in seeing the first African American women to fly a plane. She was invited as a guest of honor to attend the all black musical “shuffle along.” This is the point in her life when she started to become more and more famous. After a few months Coleman decided that she wanted to return to France to become an entertainment aviator. She stayed in France for six more months before returning home again. On September 3, 1922, she did her fist entertainment performance. She had also started a movie career, but it was quickly ended when the movie was about an ignorant black country girl who moves to the big city. Coleman rejected this part because she felt the role was “demeaning to women.” She also gave flying lessons to an advertising executive who had made a deal to buy her an airplane if she would airdrop ad leaflets. William Wills was Bessie Coleman’s mechanic- pilot. One day when they were preparing for an airshow the pilot lost control and the plane plummeted to the ground. Coleman was not wearing her seatbelt and fell 1,500 feet to the ground and died. She died on April 30, 1926 in Jacksonville Florida. Bessie Coleman is still honored today. In 1977 some African American women created the Bessie Coleman aviators club. This club was to honor Bessie for becoming the first African American women to become a pilot.

Advantages of Flicker and Fair use

A site like Flicker has many advantages and is very useful. You can look at pictures and not have to worry about copyright laws. Also you don't have to get permission before you can put them into your own gallery. Also you can get many ideas for yourself to take pictures of when you go visit places. You can make all of your photos private, share them with the public, or just share them with your contacts. Another advantage is that it gives other people ideas too. If you set your pictures to the public setting then others can get your ideas. Overall Flicker is a really useful sight. Everybody needs to know about fair use. There are many rules that people need to know about fair use for copyright purposes. Some rules are, you can use up to 10% but no more than 1000 words of essays, articles, or stories, of a single copyrighted work. You can use up to 250 words of an entire poem, or portion of a poem. You can use more than 3 poems from a single poet. You may use a singular/illustration.You may use no more than 5 images from a single artist or photographer.Lastly you may use up to 10%, but no more than 15 images from a single publication. All of these rules are necessary for everyone to know.

Reflection

The information Deputy Krupp gave us was very helpful. There were many new things that I learned that I had never thought about. I had never heard of the term groom. Now if I were to witness something like that I know what the person is trying to do and I can help put the situation to an end. I also learned that chat rooms are areas with the greatist risk. I have never been on a site like that and now I know for sure I never will. I found the information to be very helpful because I learned about many new things. I also have learned many things about identity theft too. I have learned that you aren't suppose to use one password for more than one account. Many things we have learned will surely be helpful later on in life.

A new invention has arrived! Japan has recently created a robot that can lift and move people. The robot is made to lift people weighing up to 134 pounds. It lifts people to and from beds, and wheelchairs. This invention is extremely helpful in nursing homes, along with hospitals. Some people may be freaked out by being lifted by heavy metal arms, but the robots arms are actually made with tactile sensors and the whole entire body is made with foam on the outside. The Robot’s technical name is REBA 2.The invention of the robot will help remove back problems for many medical workers. http://money.cnn.com/gallery/technology/2013/01/14/help-robots/5.html

Christmas Break

This Christmas Break was very busy. It all began by myself and four friends getting together, eating subway, exchanging gifts, and going iceskatings. Then the next two day I spent time with my cousin and we wrapped christmas presents, and she helped me make cornhole boards for my sister and her husband. On Christmas Eve my family went to church at 4:30 p.m, then we went to a family friends for dinner. We had a family style dinner with fish, seafood, and chick fil a chicken. After we ate dinner we had an ornament exchange, ate dessert and it was time to leave. On Christmas day we got up and opened presents. I got an ipod touch, pillow pet, sweat shirts, and a t-shirt. When we were done opening presents we realxed for a few hours until it was time to go to my grandaparents house for a late lunch. Once we got there we ate, played games with cousins, and just relexed and enjoyed the day. Then the next few days I hung out with friends and cousins, we went sledding and just talked. On New Years Eve I went to my best friends house we went hot tubbing and watched the performers before the ball dropped. Then when the ball dropped we ran outside with pots and pans and started screaming, and banging them. Then we went to sleep at three a.m. The next day we went bowling. On the day beofre school started I spent my day relaxing and getting ready for school!
